Private coaching

ONE PLAYER, ONE COACH,
ONE HOUR.

Group sessions split a coach's attention a dozen ways. Private coaching doesn't. Every session is built around your player: their current ability, their goals, and the specific things holding them back.

How sessions work

START WHERE THE PLAYER ACTUALLY IS

Every player is different, so every session starts from where they actually are. Your first session is part assessment: I look at skating, puck handling, shooting and decision-making, then build a plan around the gaps that matter most.

From there, sessions are structured and progressive. We work on specific skills, repeat them properly, and build them into game situations so they hold up under pressure — not just in drills. Players finish each session knowing what improved and what's next.

Planned together, tracked properly

A PLAN FOR THE BLOCK — NOT JUST TEN SESSIONS

Every block starts with a planning session — me, you and your player, together. We agree on what they're chasing, then map the block around it: which programs, which skills, in what order. From there, every session is tracked against that plan, so by the end you can see exactly where the ten hours went and what improved.

SAMPLE BLOCK PLAN
An illustration of how a block is mapped — every player's is different.
BLOCK GOAL · Harder, more accurate shot + faster feet. Agreed on the planning call.
SNIPERSWeeks 1–5
Shot mechanics, release and accuracy — built from the legs up.
SKATERSWeeks 6–10
Crossovers, edges and explosive starts — turning effort into speed.
Where the time went — by the end of the block
Shooting — mechanics, release, accuracy5h 30m
Skating — crossovers, edges, starts3h 15m
Game application — using it live1h 15m

This is how I keep every block honest — a clear goal, a real plan, and a record of the work. It's the structure most private coaching never offers.

What we work on

THE WHOLE GAME, ONE PIECE AT A TIME

Skaters only — goalie-specific coaching isn't offered.

Solo, or with a teammate

TRAIN ONE-ON-ONE, OR SPLIT A SESSION

One-on-one is the most focused option — the full hour on your player alone.

Two players share a session and split the cost. It works well for friends, siblings or linemates of a similar level who push each other — and it brings the per-player cost down to around $50 a session on a block. Two-player sessions are available as blocks only.

PLUS: A COCKBURN ICE ARENA STICK & PUCK PASS — $155/MONTH

This isn't my fee — it's the arena's. The pass gives your player swipe-card access and covers their ice time across all stick & puck sessions, not just ours. You pay it to Cockburn Ice Arena directly.

So, realistically: a player training once a week is looking at roughly $155/month for ice access, plus session fees ($80–$90 each). I'd rather you know that now than be surprised later.

What your player needs

JUST THE BASICS

  • Their own skates, stick and protective gear (helmet, gloves, etc.)
  • A current CIA Stick & Puck pass for ice access
  • Themselves, and a willingness to work

New to the sport and not sure about gear? Mention it in your enquiry and I'll point you in the right direction.

When & where

EARLY ICE, ON PURPOSE

Cockburn Ice Arena. All sessions run here. Mornings: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday.

Early ice is deliberate. It's quieter, the surface is fresh, and it's the time committed players train — before school, before work, before the day gets in the way.

IS IT THE RIGHT FIT?

Tell me about your player — age, how long they've skated, and what they want to work on — and I'll come back to you. Sessions are currently full; this joins the waitlist.
